Retractable Dog Lead Of 2.5 Metres For Small Dogs

This retractable dog lead is designed for walks with small dogs and puppies, where a practical combination of freedom of movement and ongoing control is wanted. The lead can be extended to approximately 2.5 metres, allowing the dog space to explore its surroundings, while the length can be braked or locked as needed.

The round handle has an open centre, which can be held in the hand or placed around the wrist. This makes the dog lead for small dogs easy to carry, even when you briefly need to use your hand for a phone, bag, or other small items. An integrated button is used to brake, lock, and release the lead during the walk.

Key Benefits

  • Retractable lead with a maximum length of approximately 2.5 metres.
  • Designed for small dogs and puppies on regular walks.
  • Round handle with an opening for hand or wrist.
  • Brake and lock button provides control over the chosen length.
  • The lead retracts automatically when the dog comes closer.
  • Hook for attachment to a compatible harness or collar.
  • Compact shape, which is easy to store and carry.

Overview

The retractable feature allows you to adjust the distance between you and the dog along the way. In open and calm areas, the lead can move freely, while it can be shortened near roads, other dogs, people, or narrow passages. This provides a more flexible walk than with a lead of fixed length.

The handle measures approximately 13.5 cm at its widest point. The inner hand opening measures approximately 10 cm and has a rounded shape that allows for a secure grip of the entire unit. The lead is fed out from the side of the housing and ends with a hook for the dog’s harness or collar.

The product is intended for small dogs and puppies. It should not be used for large, very strong, or heavily pulling dogs, as the lead’s compact construction is designed for lighter loads.

How To Use The Dog Lead

First, securely attach the hook to the dog’s harness or collar. Always hold the round handle and never directly on the lead itself. When the lock is released, the lead can move in and out in accordance with the dog’s distance.

Press the brake button down with your thumb to temporarily stop the lead. Hold the button down as long as the length needs to be maintained. When the lead is to be locked at a certain length, press the brake button down, after which the locking function is activated. Release the lock again when the dog is allowed to move further away.

Practice the operation at home without load before using the lead on the first walk. This makes it easier to react quickly and use the button correctly.

Wrist Grip For Practical Handling

The open, round grip can be held in several ways and can be placed around the wrist in calm conditions. This can be practical when you need to pick up a bag or briefly handle another item.

The wrist grip should not replace attention and a secure grip. In traffic, encounters with other animals, or sudden movements, the hand should be placed securely around the handle so that the lead can be braked immediately.

For Daily Walks With Small Dogs

A retractable dog lead of 2.5 metres allows the dog to sniff and explore without being completely loose. The shorter length is manageable in residential areas, parks, and on paths where a very long lead can be more difficult to control.

Keep the dog closer at road edges, cycle paths, and areas with many people. Only let the lead run longer when the surroundings are safe and there is sufficient space around you.

Safe Use And Control

Check the lead, housing, button, and hook before each walk. Do not use the product if the lead is frayed, the hook is damaged, or the lock does not function reliably. Avoid wrapping the lead around hands, legs, people, or animals, as a sudden pull can cause injury.

Do not let the dog run at high speed to the end of the lead. Brake gradually to reduce the strain. Children should only use the lead under the supervision of an adult.

Cleaning And Storage

Wipe the housing and handle with a slightly damp cloth. If the lead gets wet or dirty, gently pull it out and wipe it down before slowly retracting it. Allow the product to dry completely before storing it.

Store the dog lead in a dry place and away from direct heat. With proper use and regular checks, it is a practical tool for daily walks with small dogs and puppies.
