Overview

These barista cloths for coffee machines are intended for the smaller cleaning tasks that arise during the preparation of espresso, cappuccino, latte, and other coffee drinks.

When milk is frothed, coffee is dosed, and the portafilter is emptied, drops and residues can quickly accumulate on the machine’s drip tray, steam wand, and worktop. With a cloth placed close to the coffee machine, the area can be wiped continuously before the residues dry.

The set includes three separate cloths. This allows one cloth to be used for the steam wand and milk, one for the surfaces of the coffee machine, and one for the worktop or other areas around the coffee station.

Structured Surface for Daily Wiping

The cloths have a distinct structure that creates multiple contact points against the surface being wiped. The structure helps to collect moisture, coffee drops, and minor residues during daily cleaning.

The structured surface is particularly practical for:

  • Wiping the drip tray.
  • Removing coffee drops around the brew head.
  • Wiping the outside of the portafilter.
  • Cleaning around the coffee grinder.
  • Collecting water and milk on the worktop.
  • Wiping smaller kitchen utensils.

The cloths do not replace the machine’s regular cleaning programme or the maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.

For Coffee Machine and Portafilter

During brewing, coffee, water, and coffee grounds can accumulate around the portafilter, brew head, and drip tray. A barista cloth can be used for continuous wiping of these areas.

The cloth can be used to:

  • Wipe the handle and outside of the portafilter.
  • Remove loose coffee residues from the work area.
  • Wipe the drip tray after brewing.
  • Wipe the machine’s exterior surfaces.
  • Clean the area around the coffee grinder.

Avoid bringing the cloth into electrical openings or the machine’s internal mechanical parts. The coffee machine should be turned off and cooled down before thorough cleaning.

Practical for Milk Frothing

After frothing milk, the outside of the steam wand should be wiped quickly to prevent milk residues from drying. One of the cloths can be kept separate for this task.

Fold the cloth several times and gently wipe the steam wand after use. The steam wand can be very hot, and hands should not come into direct contact with the metal or steam opening.

When the steam wand is cleaned with a short burst of steam, the cloth and hands should be kept away from the actual outlet. Always follow the coffee machine’s usage and cleaning instructions.

Three Cloths for Separate Cleaning Tasks

The three included cloths allow for dividing the cleaning and keeping different types of residues separate.

A practical division could be:

  • Cloth 1: For steam wand and milk residues.
  • Cloth 2: For portafilter, brew area, and coffee machine.
  • Cloth 3: For worktop, drip tray, and common spills.

The division can help avoid using a cloth with milk or coffee grounds on all surfaces around the coffee station.

The cloths can be placed separately or stored together when they are clean and completely dry.

For Home Coffee Station

The set is suitable for homes with espresso machines, capsule machines, filter coffee machines, or other coffee equipment. The cloths can be kept next to the machine, in a drawer, or on a shelf, making them accessible during brewing.

They can be used around:

  • Espresso Machine.
  • Coffee Grinder.
  • Capsule Machine.
  • Milk Frother.
  • Filter Coffee Machine.
  • Kettle and Tea Area.

The compact format makes the cloths practical on smaller kitchen worktops where there is not enough space for larger tea towels.

For Café, Restaurant, and Office

The barista cloths can also be used in workplaces where many cups of coffee are prepared throughout the day. They are suitable at coffee stations in cafés, restaurants, meeting rooms, staff rooms, and receptions.

In professional environments, the cloths can be distributed among different work areas. This makes it easier to have a separate cloth for the machine, milk frother, and worktop.

The cloths should be replaced and washed regularly, especially when used for milk or other residues that can quickly develop odours.

How to Use the Barista Cloths

  1. Select a clean cloth for the current cleaning task.
  2. Fold the cloth to get a suitable grip and several clean working surfaces.
  3. Wipe milk, coffee, or water shortly after it has been spilled.
  4. Turn the cloth to a clean side when the first surface is dirty.
  5. Rinse the cloth after use if it has been in contact with milk or coffee grounds.
  6. Let the cloth dry completely between uses.
  7. Wash the cloths regularly as needed.

Do not use the same dirty cloth for both the steam wand, worktop, and clean dishes.

Cleaning the Machine’s Exterior Surfaces

For regular wiping, the cloth can be used dry or slightly damp. A slightly damp cloth is practical for coffee drops and other residues, while a dry cloth can be used to remove the last moisture from the surface.

Do not spray cleaning agents directly on the coffee machine. Instead, apply a small amount to the cloth when the machine’s manufacturer allows it.

Avoid using the cloth on:

  • Electrical sockets and plugs.
  • Open ventilation areas.
  • Internal mechanical parts.
  • Sharp edges that can damage the fabric.
  • Very hot surfaces without adequate protection.

Washing and Maintenance

Rinse the cloths after use, especially if they have been in contact with milk, coffee, or coffee grounds. Wash them regularly with a mild detergent, and follow any accompanying washing instructions.

Let the cloths dry completely before folding and storing them away. Damp cloths should not be stored together in a closed drawer or container.

Avoid strong chemicals and cleaning agents that can damage the polyester fibres. Check the cloths for loose edges or other wear, and replace them when they no longer function satisfactorily.

Practical Cloth Set for the Coffee Area

This set of 3 barista cloths in polyester provides separate cloths for the coffee machine, milk frother, and work area. The absorbent, structured surface makes them suitable for the ongoing wiping that occurs during brewing and serving coffee and tea.

Coffee machine, portafilter, cups, and other accessories are not included.
